Français Two terrorist attacks were recorded in the Tillabéri region in southwest Niger on August 18 and 19. These targeted the Defense and Security Forces as well as a convoy escorted by the army and resulted in two civilians killed (collateral victims of the attack against the FDS) and devices set on fire.
These attacks are a reminder of the GAT’s activism in this region. As a reminder, between August 11 and 15, 2024, 15 civilians were also killed there. Faced with this situation, the FDS are increasing their security operations in the Tillabéri region (South-West), as evidenced by the arrest of two terrorists on August 16, 2024 in the localities of Téra and Torodi.
In the Diffa region (South-East), terrorists also attacked a patrol of the Defense and Security Forces in Gardaga on August 15, 2024. Four soldiers were injured and four civilians killed.
