On October 26, 2024, a new alert came as a reminder of the urgency of the security situation in Niger. A terrorist ambush in Seno, in the Tillaberi region, highlighted the persistent threats at the very gates of the capital, Niamey.
Facing these challenges, the Nigerien Defense and Security Forces (DSF) maintain an active presence throughout the territory. Major operations are being conducted in several strategic regions:
- Tillaberi
- Maradi
- Agadez
- Diffa
- Zinder
- Tahoua
Significant Seizures and Regional Cooperation
Recent interventions have led to the interception of:
- Smuggled fuel
- Counterfeit pharmaceutical products
- Drug shipments
- Illegal weapons
Law enforcement has also arrested suspected terrorists and traffickers, highlighting the close links between criminal networks and terrorist armed groups (TAG) who use the same routes.
These operational successes are particularly the result of close collaboration with Chadian forces 🇹🇩, emphasizing the crucial importance of bilateral cooperation in the region.
